The Netherlands end their Euro 2024 group stage against Albania at the Olympiastadion in Berlin on Tuesday. The Dutch currently top Group D courtesy of just one goal after beating Poland 2-1 in their opener and earning a goalless draw against France. Those results put them in pole position to qualify as group winners and, theoretically at least, get a more favourable fixture in the round of 16. They’ll know that if France wins and they lose, there’s a small chance they could exit the competition. There’s a lot riding on this one, so expect a full-strength lineup from manager Ronald Koeman.
For Austria, the task is simple. Win and go through to the knockout stages. That’s obviously much easier said than done, but Austria has impressed so far at Euro 2024, and if they were to go through, it would be thoroughly deserved. They possess plenty of attacking threat, mainly in the form of a very familiar face to Premier League fans – Marko Arnautovic. They’ll be full of confidence heading into this one, and should they manage to get in front, don’t be surprised if they try and defend the lead.
The Netherlands were unfortunate not to have beaten France last time out and that performance has been enough for the bookies to make them favourites here. There’s a lot at stake for both sides, and, in actuality, a draw would probably suit both of them just fine. So if you’re looking at the match result market, our suggestion is a draw. If you feel bold, our correct score tip is 1-1. Christoph Baumgartner was sensational in the win over Poland and he got himself a goal in that game, so we’re backing him to repeat that feat here.
